THE PERIOD OF POST-WAR ITALIAN RECONSTRUCTION (1945-55) IN THE PRISM OF FOREIGN POLICY

Summary

The period preceding the Italian Economic Miracle is a phase of reconstruction, marked both by civil and industrial work done to reconstruct artefacts lost during the war, and, on the one hand, with a financial support of the so-called ,,Marshall Plan“ from the United States, and on the other hand, through the activities of the "Institute for Industrial Reconstruction" (Italian: IRI), for the purpose of promotion industrial policy in Italy.

The rejection of the monarchy, the abolition of protectionist policy through previous forms of fascist control and autarchic attempts, and the distancing from the Eastern Bloc were the positive factors that greatly determined a vector of Italy's further social-economic and political development, with what has been laid a solid foundation for the future of the country.
